The Materials, Processes and Tests sub-domain is looking for a trainee to support the development of new high-performance thermoplastic composite materials. The candidate will join the Multifunctional, Thermoplastic & Cores team located at the Toulouse Saint-Martin site.
The use of thermoplastic matrix composites for the manufacture of aeronautical parts is gaining ground over thermosetting matrix composites because they are recyclable, weldable and have very good thermomechanical performance. In this context, the candidate will have the opportunity to work on the development of thermoplastic composite materials dedicated to future Airbus programs.

The objectives of this internship are more particularly in the study of physico-chemical behaviour and in the measurement of adhesion rates between composite layers. These measures will optimize the implementation of a new generation of high-performance thermoplastic matrix and carbon reinforced composites.
Thus, the tasks of this internship will consist of:

• Characterization of the rheological and thermodynamic properties of different thermoplastic matrices (laboratory analyses)
• Identification of characteristic quantities and properties (creep time) and analysis of the impacts of parameters (temperature, time) on physical and chemical properties
• The definition of process window: application to the draping and consolidation of structural parts with thermoplastic matrix

The candidate will work in a multinational context, so a good level of English is required. To achieve his objectives, the candidate will have to demonstrate autonomy and organization. He will work in collaboration with other teams / functions internally.
In addition to a strong interest in scientific research The candidate must have a good knowledge of polymers and composite materials as well as the associated physico-chemical characterization methods in the laboratory, which he will develop more particularly on thermoplastic matrices through his activities.
