Procurement Commodity Manager :

The Category Manager is responsible for development and execution of strategies, action plans, processes and best practices for the respective category.

The category manager guides the strategic decisions in the Group leading to ensuring that the most important opportunities in terms of savings/value (e.g. quality, service, total vendor value) are transformed into actions and the right priorities are selected.

He/she assures through close collaboration with stakeholders the identification of opportunities and validation of the strategies and actions.

He/she manages and coaches the buyers in the category and assures that the right number of purchasing resources in the RBU organization is focused on the right segments and right actions.

The target is an achievement of a step change in savings/value of minimum 3-5% ongoing year-on-year within the category.

In addition, he/she is responsible to ensure savings realization for the category through deployment in the countries within the RBU and that the internal customers are kept satisfied in terms of cost, quality, lead-times and service level of suppliers.

The Category Manager also makes sure that innovation, continuous improvement and value are provided by suppliers to the countries within the RBU.

The Category Manager supports cross-category sourcing initiatives and global process & tools initiatives when applicable.

 

To achieve the goals stated above, the Category Manager will

: 1. Lead and support the buyers in their analyzes of the internal and external fact base, understanding the needs of internal customers, and building a global strategy and action plan for the different segments and finally for the category as a whole. The action plans should target significant initial cost reductions, supplanted with year-over-year TCO improvements of minimum 3% for the goods and services purchased while maintaining product quality and vendor service levels.

2. Assure the sharing with stakeholders and obtain necessary validations for the strategy and action plans.

3. Lead the communications on the action plans, including their timing and impact on budgets to the country purchasing organizations and concerned functions.

4. Lead the execution of the actions, being personally in charge of the most important key supplier relationships, including negotiations and production of the most critical agreements.

5. Organize and coach the country purchasing resources within the category in a most optimized way so that global targets will be achieved, without jeopardizing local business stakes.

6. Facilitate and support the buyer’s leadership of category purchasing teams in the countries within the GBU as well as cross functional teams with operations and support functions.

7. Lead or co-lead with other functions internal process changes or improvements necessary for the optimization of the segment (e.g. demand management, bid management).

8. Facilitate the buyer’s task of the deployment and implementation of the actions in the countries within the GBU whenever necessary.

9. Spend significant time in the countries within the RBU in order to understand and respond to business requirements which may impact timely implementation of the actions and resultant savings.

10. Assure buyer’s support to global projects / Bid procurement organizations for major customer projects and be personally in charge if necessary of the purchases and supplier relationships for the largest global projects.

11. Be in charge of the most important key supplier relationships, including the follow-up of the supplier performance and internal customer satisfaction.

12. Contribute to the building of the GBU organization and tools & processes required to execute best-in-class purchasing in the Group.
