Summary of purpose/major responsibilities

Within the Modeling and Analytics platform of the VEM (Vaccine Epidemiology and Modeling) department of Sanofi Pasteur, the infectious disease modeler leads the implementation of modeling and analytic activities aiming at providing the appropriate level of scientific evidence for demonstrating the public health value of the sanofi pasteur existing and future vaccines.

Key accountabilities

- Contribute to the definition of the modeling and analytics strategy: gap analyses between available evidence and decision makers expectations, alignment of modeling activities with the global strategy of vaccine introduction, integration of modeling stakes in the action plan of other departments

- Develop proactively and implement modeling, statistical and data mining projects in line with the defined strategy: definition of study, design, selection of the appropriate methodology, strategy of data collection, interface with other departments of Sanofi Pasteur, identification and management of external partnerships, publication and communication strategy, project management.

- Manage the technical development of computer programs and tools associated with models : program, coding, manage external resources in charge of program coding and tool development, interact with Sanofi Pasteur IT department for securing the appropriate level of computing resources, administer the web-based tools

- Develop training materials and provide resources and methodological expertise to internal partners on modeling and analytics activities: training support on modeling and analytics, critical assessment of external analysis, scientific and technical support.

- Manage Real World Evidence data and tools for the VEM department: interact with Sanofi CMO RWE, identify and ensure availabily of data relevant for modeling and analytic activities, provide support on RWE tools to the department

- Interact with the scientific community, stakeholders and decision makers to ensure the external endorsement of analyses performed: secure that activities meet the appropriate standards of scientific quality, publications in peer-reviewed journals, communication to congresses and other scientific forums, effective communication to stakeholders and decision makers

- Ensure the development of appropriate communication support for internal and external audiences: presentation, reference documents, training materials…

- Perform local adaptation of the model in close collaboration with regional and country teams

Education and experience requirements

- PhD or postgraduate qualification in statistics, epidemiology health economics and applied mathematics

- Significant experience in infectious disease modelling in leading academic groups, international organizations, consulting or pharmaceutical companies

- Publications in peer-reviewed journals

- Excellent knowledge of the scientific literature and the modelling community

- Ability to work and communicate in an English-speaking environment required,

Critical skills required

- Important technical expertise in the development of mathematical and statistical models

- Strong written and oral communication skills.

- Creative and innovative and strategic thinking

- Project management skills including budget planning and allocation, and reporting of results

- Solid understanding of the vaccine environment

- Ability to deal with cross-expertise and cross-cultural teams as a network.

- Strong analytical skills

- Good programming skills in one or several programming languages (C++, C#, Java, Matlab,…)

- Proficiency in office tools (Excel, Powerpoint) and statistical softwares (R, SAS)
